South Sound Volleyball Club

SSVBC U15 Brea kicked off our season with the Seeding Tournament at Five12 Courts. We opened the day against OPVBC Legacy. During the 3 set match, three players, Bri, Teya, and Aubrey serve received above a 2.0 average – helping us maintain a 2.2 overall average. Stacie and Grace led us in kills, with 7 and 4 respectively, while Sarah owned the back row with 19 digs as libero. Despite the hard work, OPVBC took the match in the third set. All three games were tight with scores of 13-15, 17-15, and 13-15. Our second match, against Northwest Jrs. was a tough one, and we dropped two quick sets to them. From there, we moved into the second round of pool play where we played one set to 25 instead of two to 15. We matched up against Mercer Island VBC where our tough serving prevailed with Bri, Emma, and Teya each racking up a couple of aces and eventually ending with us taking the set 25-19. The final match before the crossover was against WVBA Black, and we again took them easily, 25-22. The last match of the day, the crossover match, was against Cascade. We came out strong and battled for points against this tough hitting team. Our defense was all over, putting up 31 digs overall, while Grace and Abbie protected the net with a block apiece. Despite the effort, Cascade pulled away at the end to take it 22-25.

Overall, Lauren and I are incredibly impressed with the girls this weekend. They played hard, they supported each other – both on the court and from the bench – and no matter what the score was, they kept a smile on and continued to give it their all. We have a list of things to work on over the next two weeks, and we can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve got at the first Power League on the 24th!
