Coach Javier Biography

Rey Javier was born and raised in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii. He started playing volleyball in 1983 for Waimea High School as a freshman.

He played 4 years for the Varsity Waimea High School Team and graduated from Waimea High School 1987.

From 1990 until 2006 he has played on the United States All Army Volleyball Men's Team. In 1992 and 2005 he also played on the United States Armed Forces Volleyball Men's Team. In 2006, he was the player/Coach/Captain of the United States All Army Volleyball Men's Team when they won the United States Armed Forces Championships.

Rey has been Coaching USAV juniors Girls Volleyball since 1999.

He is currently the Head Coach for the South Sound Volleyball U-18 team and Assistant Coach for the Tacoma Community College Women's Team.  Rey has coached club volleyball for the past 20 years.

Rey has spent more than 27 years playing Volleyball at various levels. He is still an active volleyball player organizing and playing on his own USAV Men's Team "Island Style". Island Style dominated the 2009 USAV Men's division in the Puget Sound Region, and took 14th place the 2009 USAV National Championships. In 2010, Island Style Men's, won the region championship and placed in the gold division at nationals in Dallas, Tx. Javier and Spoja enter their 3rd season coaching together.
