South Sound 16s Win CEVA 18’s Tournament

South Sound 16’s traveled down to Beaverton, Oregon March 25 to play in a tournament.  The girls gave it their all in the morning pool, working well together and playing with lots of enthusiasm. The girls played their hearts out and beat DSK 18 Black, Rimrock 18 Red and North Pacific 17 Black.  By beating these teams the girls took first in their pool and were moving on to tournament play.  South South’s beat AVBA 25-16 and 25-15, moving them on to the semi-finals where they would face South South 18’s.  This was the biggest match up of the day.  The 16’s went out with nothing to loose and through determination and heart they beat the 18’s in three very close matches (25-23, 19-25, and 15-9). This put the girls into the champion match to face Rimrock 18 red for the second time of the day.  The girls fought hard and brought all their energy to this last, even coming back from being down in 2 of the games. They won in 3 very close and intense matches with the scores of 25-21, 20-25, and 15-13 for the victory!  South Sound will next go on to play in Spokane in the 16 Open division next weekend.   SEE PHOTOS BELOW

Emotional Win!

U16 WINS AGAIN!

SSVBC Goes Undefeated

SSVBC U-16s worked well together to come out on top being undefeated at Power League on February 5th at Juanita High School. Due to the outstanding play by all eleven girls,  pool play was a clean sweep beating Ferndale (25-9, 25-13), SVVC (26-24, 25-14), and Jammin (25-11, 25-16) without dropping a set.  The girls then went on to play NW JRS Elite  and through their competitive spirit and hard work on the court, they moved on to the final match of the day.  Because of outstanding blocking and energy on the court, SSVBC swept SVVC for the second time that day  to take first in their flight.  Angela and Courtney are very proud as the girls continue to improve their volleyball skills.  Blocking and defense were the key components in allowing the girls to push through and win their flight. We are both excited to see them move up and play in flight two come March, as the girls give it their all and battle their way to the top.

South Sound Takes the Tournament

SSVBC U-16s played this weekend at Seattle University where they went undefeated taking first and winning the tournament!  After beating NCWVBA, Vipers, and Stanwood in pool play the team was on fire and ready to move into tournament play.  The team then played Lightning and Eastside to put them in the final match against Wahine 16’s.  Due to the huge blocks from Emilie Newberry, Savana Smith and Emily Sutton all playing middle and the tough serves by the entire team,  SSVBC came out on top beating Wahine (25-18, 25-16) in two sets. Throughout the day the team was very selfless and played for each other; never giving up and paying phenomenal defense. The fundamentals of volleyball and hard work at practice is starting to show and both Angela and Courtney are happy about the outcome at the end of day.  “We saw all the girls applying skills we have worked on in practice during this tournament, and seeing this makes coaching this group of girls enjoyable. SSVBC next heads off to play in a qualifier tournament in Denver, Colorado.
