Hey Everyone,

Once again the girls played very well this past weekend.  They started off a little slow going but in the end we placed 4th.   Kristen has some amazing serves as well as Kaliah.  Taylor and Sarah had some nice passes to lead us into three hits.. Genevieve got her serves over for the first time in a game and we were very proud of her accomplishments.  Imani was more aggressive at the net touching some hits.  Elizabeth and Genevieve both had a kill and Nicole was a digging machine and we did great.  I know for the parents it was great to see.  Expecting the girls to be more aggressive at practices since we play like we practice.  We are improving with every practice and the girls are having more fun.  Keep up the good work ladies...

Great Start

MLK Tournament 1-15-2012

I would love to start off by saying how proud Coach Ro and I are of our 9 girls. We couldn't of asked anymore from them.  This weekend was their first tournament and they did better than expected.  We started out rough with our serving but worked our way into some really close matches.  We didn't win any matches but we did win a game against Ridge Valley and went into a 3rd set.  We came from behind with a couple of serving streaks from Kristen and Taylor.   We also had a fabulous kill from Imani and some great passing and setting from the rest of the team.  Both Coach Ro and I were very proud mamas and have much higher expectations from our girls after witnessing their  accomplishments.  We know that they can and will improve and hope to see some of the things we are working on be performed at the first Power League next weekend.  Good job ladies and we are very proud of you.  Keep up the hard work..

Good Job at Power League

Power League U12 1-21-2012

Hello again everyone,
I am here to report how our girls played at our Power League tournament this weekend... Guess what? They are implementing what they are learning into their performances!!  Let me start of by saying yet again, Coach Ro and I are proud mamas!  We  played really well and won our first out of many matches  against Whatcom.  Kristen was on a roll and served 8 points in a row to get us a lead! From there we worked hard to beat the other competition with some really close matches to Capital Ice and Greys Harbor.  Power Surge we struggled a little missing some crucial serves and letting a few balls drop.. We went three games with Greys Harbor and has some great plays by Nicole and  Taylor in the back row and Genevieve stepped it up and hustled to the ball.  Kaliah had some great digs and a couple of spikes.  Imani and Nicole both had a nice block or two and our setters worked hard to keep the ball in play.  Ali played for the first time and did very well considering she missed our first tournament and had to get used to the pressure.  Sarah passed up some really tough serves.  Elizabeth started getting her serve down.. We did have some questionable calls from the Ref team, frustrating a few parents as well as us coaches but that is always bound to happen once in a while.. The girls played their best and had a couple of blocks and a whopping 17 aces in their match against Greys Harbor.  What a long day for everyone but the parents were great and the girls did very well and Im sure by the end of the day, they were tired.  Coach Ro and I are looking forward to having 2 weeks of practice before our next tournament.  We feel the girls are going to improve each and every time they are handling the ball.. There is only room to improve the more practice we get in, the better we will become.  Congratulations to everyone for a great first U12 Power League.
